Objectives

When it comes to payment transactions, security is among the most important issues. Merchants and banking institutions may suffer high financial losses in case of fraud. Therefore they need reliable and flexible protection solutions, in line with their payment systems strategy.

General Features

To meet the objectives of these payment networks, CRYPT2Pay™ HSMs have been designed with an efficient tamper-resistant hardware architecture and a software suite compliant with the latest EMV specifications.

The original Bull Banking HSM objectives were to fulfil the security needs of card-issuing leading French banks. Its usage was moreover successfully generalised to secure a large number of financial and e-business transactions worldwide in Acquirer and Issuer authorisation servers, merchants and e-payment solution providers.

• CRYPT2Pay™ is usually connected as a security coprocessor to Acquirer or Issuer hosts; it is also the security coprocessor of Inter-Banking networks. It therefore stores the secret keys securely while relieving the hosts of the processing burden associated with these encryption functions.
  
  
• CRYPT2Pay™ integrates smoothly with most ATMs and EFT-POS management solutions and supports both magnetic stripe card standards and the latest EMV specifications.
  
  
• CRYPT2Pay™ also provides, on the same device, an advanced customer driven Key Management Centre.
  
  
• CRYPT2Pay™ provides functions to be used in the card personalization process, when the cards are being issued for further off-line card authentication.
  
  
• CRYPT2Pay™ has successfully passed an evaluation process imposed by the French Banking Community, based on MEPS II (developed by GIE Cartes Bancaires).
